Narrative:
We were preparing for takeoff on runway 22 at hou when we were cleared onto the runway to hold. I moved the aircraft into position on the end of the runway and we completed all checklist items. We were then cleared for takeoff and the first officer pushed the throttles forward and began to roll. The tower then cancelled our traffic clearance because of landing traffic on runway 12. The first officer retarded the throttles and stopped the aircraft. I figured we rolled forward 50-75'. I asked the tower for clearance to clear the runway and go back to the end of the runway. The tower's response to my request was, 'you still have the entire runway length available for takeoff.' I then questioned him for assurance and he again said, 'you have the entire runway available.' since I could not see behind me and did not have any good references for runway remaining, I had to take his advice. He then cleared us for takeoff which was made west/O further incident. Although our takeoff was normal, I am still concerned about why we were originally cleared for takeoff on runway 22 with landing traffic on short final for runway 12.

Title: FLT CREW OF ACR MLG ABORTS TKOF WHEN CTLR CANCELS TKOF CLRNC DUE TO TRAFFIC ON CROSSING RWY. FLT CREW AND CTLR SUBSEQUENTLY ARGUE OVER WHETHER THE RWY REMAINING IS STILL SUFFICIENT FOR TKOF.
Narrative: WE WERE PREPARING FOR TKOF ON RWY 22 AT HOU WHEN WE WERE CLRED ONTO THE RWY TO HOLD. I MOVED THE ACFT INTO POS ON THE END OF THE RWY AND WE COMPLETED ALL CHKLIST ITEMS. WE WERE THEN CLRED FOR TKOF AND THE F/O PUSHED THE THROTTLES FORWARD AND BEGAN TO ROLL. THE TWR THEN CANCELLED OUR TFC CLRNC BECAUSE OF LNDG TFC ON RWY 12. THE F/O RETARDED THE THROTTLES AND STOPPED THE ACFT. I FIGURED WE ROLLED FORWARD 50-75'. I ASKED THE TWR FOR CLRNC TO CLR THE RWY AND GO BACK TO THE END OF THE RWY. THE TWR'S RESPONSE TO MY REQUEST WAS, 'YOU STILL HAVE THE ENTIRE RWY LENGTH AVAILABLE FOR TKOF.' I THEN QUESTIONED HIM FOR ASSURANCE AND HE AGAIN SAID, 'YOU HAVE THE ENTIRE RWY AVAILABLE.' SINCE I COULD NOT SEE BEHIND ME AND DID NOT HAVE ANY GOOD REFS FOR RWY REMAINING, I HAD TO TAKE HIS ADVICE. HE THEN CLRED US FOR TKOF WHICH WAS MADE W/O FURTHER INCIDENT. ALTHOUGH OUR TKOF WAS NORMAL, I AM STILL CONCERNED ABOUT WHY WE WERE ORIGINALLY CLRED FOR TKOF ON RWY 22 WITH LNDG TFC ON SHORT FINAL FOR RWY 12.
