Narrative:
Filed route from tys to iad was tys J91 bosey J42 bkw (beckley VOR) doccs four arrival iad. Shortly after departure from tys center cleared us direct beckley. Approximately 90 mi northeast of beckley while on the doccs 4, we were told to cross 'curry' intersection at 9000' (from 21000'). I initiated a 1000 FPM descent rate and reviewed the doccs 4 but could not find 'curry' intersection. I asked ATC to verify the intersection again. No response. I again tried to question ATC. This time they responded that it was the radials of J-213 and V-143. I increased my rate of descent to 2000 FPM and scrambled for my high and low charts that I had stowed as I had started the published arrival. I found luray intersection but noticed that on the arrival we would pass abeam of the fix and not over it as is 3 mi off the radials that compose the doccs 4. I again questioned ATC. The clearance was then changed to cross 10 southwest of doccs intersection at 9000'. I again reviewed the doccs 4 arrival and could not find doccs intersection! Back to the en route charts! By this time I had picked my rate of descent up to over 4000 FPM. By the time we located the doccs intersection on the en route chart, we xed the 10 southwest fix at about 11500' (4000 FPM descent). And leveled about ssw of doccs. Factors. I fault myself for not just asking ATC to give me a DME fix from the aml (armel) VOR, thus saving valuable time that I could have used to plan the descent. ATC should not have given me an intersection that is not on the published arrival that I am flying. Doccs intersection has been omitted in a printing error by chart maker on the doccs 4 arrival dated 8/90 it appears as os. It is my understanding that there was not a direct conflict as a result. I notified my chief pilot as soon as I landed. He in turn notified ATC of the printing error to avoid the possibility of recurrence. We also notified the chart maker.

Narrative: FILED RTE FROM TYS TO IAD WAS TYS J91 BOSEY J42 BKW (BECKLEY VOR) DOCCS FOUR ARR IAD. SHORTLY AFTER DEP FROM TYS CTR CLRED US DIRECT BECKLEY. APPROX 90 MI NE OF BECKLEY WHILE ON THE DOCCS 4, WE WERE TOLD TO CROSS 'CURRY' INTXN AT 9000' (FROM 21000'). I INITIATED A 1000 FPM DSNT RATE AND REVIEWED THE DOCCS 4 BUT COULD NOT FIND 'CURRY' INTXN. I ASKED ATC TO VERIFY THE INTXN AGAIN. NO RESPONSE. I AGAIN TRIED TO QUESTION ATC. THIS TIME THEY RESPONDED THAT IT WAS THE RADIALS OF J-213 AND V-143. I INCREASED MY RATE OF DSNT TO 2000 FPM AND SCRAMBLED FOR MY HIGH AND LOW CHARTS THAT I HAD STOWED AS I HAD STARTED THE PUBLISHED ARR. I FOUND LURAY INTXN BUT NOTICED THAT ON THE ARR WE WOULD PASS ABEAM OF THE FIX AND NOT OVER IT AS IS 3 MI OFF THE RADIALS THAT COMPOSE THE DOCCS 4. I AGAIN QUESTIONED ATC. THE CLRNC WAS THEN CHANGED TO CROSS 10 SW OF DOCCS INTXN AT 9000'. I AGAIN REVIEWED THE DOCCS 4 ARR AND COULD NOT FIND DOCCS INTXN! BACK TO THE ENRTE CHARTS! BY THIS TIME I HAD PICKED MY RATE OF DSNT UP TO OVER 4000 FPM. BY THE TIME WE LOCATED THE DOCCS INTXN ON THE ENRTE CHART, WE XED THE 10 SW FIX AT ABOUT 11500' (4000 FPM DSNT). AND LEVELED ABOUT SSW OF DOCCS. FACTORS. I FAULT MYSELF FOR NOT JUST ASKING ATC TO GIVE ME A DME FIX FROM THE AML (ARMEL) VOR, THUS SAVING VALUABLE TIME THAT I COULD HAVE USED TO PLAN THE DSNT. ATC SHOULD NOT HAVE GIVEN ME AN INTXN THAT IS NOT ON THE PUBLISHED ARR THAT I AM FLYING. DOCCS INTXN HAS BEEN OMITTED IN A PRINTING ERROR BY CHART MAKER ON THE DOCCS 4 ARR DATED 8/90 IT APPEARS AS OS. IT IS MY UNDERSTANDING THAT THERE WAS NOT A DIRECT CONFLICT AS A RESULT. I NOTIFIED MY CHIEF PLT AS SOON AS I LANDED. HE IN TURN NOTIFIED ATC OF THE PRINTING ERROR TO AVOID THE POSSIBILITY OF RECURRENCE. WE ALSO NOTIFIED THE CHART MAKER.
