Narrative:
Took off of runway 25 at ZZZ. Made left turn toward ZZZ1 climbing to 2;500 MSL and leveled off. Went to lean the mixture and the mixture cable broke engine quit. Turned back to ZZZ. Landed on a road. No injuries or damage to the aircraft.
