Narrative:

While on a visual approach (monitoring the ILS glideslope as backup) to 34L at rno; the flight crew noticed a discrepancy in altitude at the appropriate 'crosscheck' altitude point. The 'crosscheck' altitude at epose is 8300' MSL. While visual with the runway and passing epose; the aircraft was on the ILS glidepath; however; the altitude displayed on both pfds indicated a lower altitude than the expected 8300' MSL at epose. We (the flight crew) verified between each other and confirmed that the same and correct altimeter setting (30.06) was set. We also verified altimeter setting and altitude at epose with tower. Additionally; altitude readouts were verified within tolerance pre and post flight on the ground. This is a safety concern; because all systems (aircraft and airfield) seemed to be working properly; yet the altitude was off at the crosscheck point. Additionally; on a previous occasion; a similar situation was experienced; as well as hearing the same from another aircraft from another carrier on the same day.
