Narrative:
Captain requested a turn off course to allow passengers a look at hoover dam while I was off frequency. He apparently misunderstood ATC's instructions to make the turn only to the left and turned 20 degree right. This resulted in ATC having to turn us back left, through our original course and in having to turn another airplane, behind to our right, still further right to avoid a conflict.
