Narrative:
We had just finished preflight and started up the aircraft to transition to the front of the terminal to board our passenger. After repositioning, we called ground to get our IFR clearance and the ground controller told us we had taxied onto the controled taxiway and were to get clearance before we moved the aircraft onto controled ground. Our reason for taxiing onto this portion was we understood that the tower didn't open until OY00 local, so when we taxied we assumed the tower wasn't there to clear us for transition at OX48 local. As we transitioned the aircraft's left side just crossed the taxi line by a very small amount. The controller said the tower opened at OX48 local. The cause was a misunderstanding about when the control tower opens in the morning.

Title: FLT CREW OF COMMUTER ACR MOVED ACFT EARLY IN MORNING TO FRONT OF TERMINAL TO LOAD PASSENGERS, LATER CALLING FOR CLRNC. TWR ADVISED THEY HAD BEEN IN OPERATION AND FLT SHOULD HAVE OBTAINED TAXI CLRNC BEFORE MOVING THE ACFT.
Narrative: WE HAD JUST FINISHED PREFLT AND STARTED UP THE ACFT TO TRANSITION TO THE FRONT OF THE TERMINAL TO BOARD OUR PAX. AFTER REPOSITIONING, WE CALLED GND TO GET OUR IFR CLRNC AND THE GND CTLR TOLD US WE HAD TAXIED ONTO THE CTLED TXWY AND WERE TO GET CLRNC BEFORE WE MOVED THE ACFT ONTO CTLED GND. OUR REASON FOR TAXIING ONTO THIS PORTION WAS WE UNDERSTOOD THAT THE TWR DIDN'T OPEN UNTIL OY00 LCL, SO WHEN WE TAXIED WE ASSUMED THE TWR WASN'T THERE TO CLR US FOR TRANSITION AT OX48 LCL. AS WE TRANSITIONED THE ACFT'S LEFT SIDE JUST CROSSED THE TAXI LINE BY A VERY SMALL AMOUNT. THE CTLR SAID THE TWR OPENED AT OX48 LCL. THE CAUSE WAS A MISUNDERSTANDING ABOUT WHEN THE CTL TWR OPENS IN THE MORNING.
