Narrative:
I was directed to the ramp area of facility aviation for refueling and tie-down. 2 days later I departed the tie-down area by the same obvious way I came in. During the last 20-30' prior to the jeep I noticed the steel post on the left (approximately 1' X 3' X 7'-8' high). The jeep was approximately 3' farther out than the balance of cars in the area. It appeared that I could go through and thus proceeded. I did not see, feel or hear any contact. After I was airborne and about 40 mi southeast of fcm, FSS advised that I had scratched a jeep. They gave me the phone # to call at facility aviation. When I landed at sioux falls, sd I noticed that I had indeed hit the plaster rear corner of the jeep since the right navigation light was broken. Later, I contacted owner of the jeep. He advised that the plastic could be sanded and painted. The navigation light will be replaced for $90. Suggestions: 1) if there is any question, even though it may be obvious, turn off the engine, go to the office and request a lineman to direct you. 2) it is suggested that FBO's clearly identify the taxi ramp areas with painted arrows on the ground. This is particularly important for transient aircraft.

Title: WING TIP OF TAXIING SMA HITS JEEP DURING TAXI PROC ON RAMP.
Narrative: I WAS DIRECTED TO THE RAMP AREA OF FAC AVIATION FOR REFUELING AND TIE-DOWN. 2 DAYS LATER I DEPARTED THE TIE-DOWN AREA BY THE SAME OBVIOUS WAY I CAME IN. DURING THE LAST 20-30' PRIOR TO THE JEEP I NOTICED THE STEEL POST ON THE LEFT (APPROX 1' X 3' X 7'-8' HIGH). THE JEEP WAS APPROX 3' FARTHER OUT THAN THE BALANCE OF CARS IN THE AREA. IT APPEARED THAT I COULD GO THROUGH AND THUS PROCEEDED. I DID NOT SEE, FEEL OR HEAR ANY CONTACT. AFTER I WAS AIRBORNE AND ABOUT 40 MI SE OF FCM, FSS ADVISED THAT I HAD SCRATCHED A JEEP. THEY GAVE ME THE PHONE # TO CALL AT FAC AVIATION. WHEN I LANDED AT SIOUX FALLS, SD I NOTICED THAT I HAD INDEED HIT THE PLASTER REAR CORNER OF THE JEEP SINCE THE RIGHT NAV LIGHT WAS BROKEN. LATER, I CONTACTED OWNER OF THE JEEP. HE ADVISED THAT THE PLASTIC COULD BE SANDED AND PAINTED. THE NAV LIGHT WILL BE REPLACED FOR $90. SUGGESTIONS: 1) IF THERE IS ANY QUESTION, EVEN THOUGH IT MAY BE OBVIOUS, TURN OFF THE ENG, GO TO THE OFFICE AND REQUEST A LINEMAN TO DIRECT YOU. 2) IT IS SUGGESTED THAT FBO'S CLEARLY IDENT THE TAXI RAMP AREAS WITH PAINTED ARROWS ON THE GND. THIS IS PARTICULARLY IMPORTANT FOR TRANSIENT ACFT.
