Narrative:
Captain started to eat crew meal; began to nausea, faint, progressing to a cold feeling with persperation. Along with crew decided that the prudent action would be to land (divert) at msp versus going on to sea. First officer's leg and he continued to fly and land. Declared emergency, dumped fuel. Captain helped with some communication, ground spooling, and taxied aircraft to gate. Captain taken by paramedics to emergency room at hospital and later diagnosed as near syncope with flushing reaction. Before flight captain ate light breakfast, worked out, did chores around house, left for work xa:15, no lunch. Although hungry, did not eat prior to takeoff at xc:55. Possible contributing factor: empty stomach and first officer, a north american indian historian, started describing in detail how indians tortured and killed their captives. Also, virus may have been a contributing factor as upon return home wife was il with upset stomach etc. Future: eat when hungry and no talk of gory details on an empty stomach. Supplemental information from acn 158180. Captain felt well enough after landing to taxi to gate where we were met by paramedics and FAA inspectors.
