Narrative:
When switched to ny departure control, the controller cleared our flight to 7000'. We acknowledged the altitude and climbed to 7000'. However upon reaching 7000' the controller stated that 5000' was the cleared altitude. We then descended to 5000'. The controller stated there was no problem and that he had missed the 7000' readback. 3 crew members heard 7000' and 7000' was accomplished.
