Narrative:
While on final approach to sea 16R (approximately 2.5 mi) observed an small transport heading northwest pass approximately 500' below us. First officer (flying) added power and climbed to increase sep maintaining confign for landing. After passing over small transport we continued approach, landing normally. Sea tower, when notified of the occurrence, reported that he had just gotten off the phone and the aircraft had us in sight. The captain called the tower after parking and was told that the small transport was flying in the pattern at bfi. Told to make right downwind pattern at or below 800' inside of the river immediately south of bfi. The controller reported that the small transport pilot was at 1100' and south of the river. WX at bfi was marginal VFR. At no time did a collision appear imminent. Evasive action helped to ensure adequate sep.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: CLOSE PROX ACR LGT ON APCH TO SEA AND GA SMT IN TRAFFIC AT BFI.
Narrative: WHILE ON FINAL APCH TO SEA 16R (APPROX 2.5 MI) OBSERVED AN SMT HDG NW PASS APPROX 500' BELOW US. F/O (FLYING) ADDED PWR AND CLBED TO INCREASE SEP MAINTAINING CONFIGN FOR LNDG. AFTER PASSING OVER SMT WE CONTINUED APCH, LNDG NORMALLY. SEA TWR, WHEN NOTIFIED OF THE OCCURRENCE, RPTED THAT HE HAD JUST GOTTEN OFF THE PHONE AND THE ACFT HAD US IN SIGHT. THE CAPT CALLED THE TWR AFTER PARKING AND WAS TOLD THAT THE SMT WAS FLYING IN THE PATTERN AT BFI. TOLD TO MAKE RIGHT DOWNWIND PATTERN AT OR BELOW 800' INSIDE OF THE RIVER IMMEDIATELY S OF BFI. THE CTLR RPTED THAT THE SMT PLT WAS AT 1100' AND S OF THE RIVER. WX AT BFI WAS MARGINAL VFR. AT NO TIME DID A COLLISION APPEAR IMMINENT. EVASIVE ACTION HELPED TO ENSURE ADEQUATE SEP.
