Narrative:
We were on final approach on runway 17L at dfw and had been cleared to land. We got the approach lights in sight about 250' AGL and the runway in sight above 200' AGL. Visibility was restr by fog. As we were approaching the runway, I saw an object with flashing lights about 3000-4000' down the runway and left (east) of the centerline. Initially, I thought it was a light airplane but then I saw someone running toward the vehicle. I initiated a go-around. During the go-around we broke out of the WX about 2000' MSL and saw a large aircraft just slightly above and about 3 mi in front of us, same direction.
