Narrative:
Requested a right downwind departure from hawthorne tower for a departure from runway 25. Tower replied unable and granted a request for a left downwind departure. I reviewed TCA chart briefly and thought the floor of lax TCA inside boundaries 076 degree and 046 degree right was 2500'. I reported hawthorne and made a left downwind departure, climbed to 2400' MSL 2-3 mi southeast of hawthorne and made request for a frequency change. Hawthorne tower replied 'unable frequency change.' 5 mi southeast of hawthorne tower granted a frequency change and I proceeded northwest toward oxnard and that block of airspace was 2500' MSL. Upon arrival at oxnard airport an official met my aircraft and escorted me to the control tower. I spoke on the phone to the area manager of the lax TCA and explained what happened over the phone. My decision to penetrate this block of airspace was made because I misread the chart and thought the floor of the TCA began at 2500' at that point.

Title: LOW TIME PLT MISREADS TCA CHART AND PENETRATES TCA SECTOR MARKED 125 SURF THINKING THE FLOOR WAS 2500'.
Narrative: REQUESTED A RIGHT DOWNWIND DEP FROM HAWTHORNE TWR FOR A DEP FROM RWY 25. TWR REPLIED UNABLE AND GRANTED A REQUEST FOR A LEFT DOWNWIND DEP. I REVIEWED TCA CHART BRIEFLY AND THOUGHT THE FLOOR OF LAX TCA INSIDE BOUNDARIES 076 DEG AND 046 DEG R WAS 2500'. I RPTED HAWTHORNE AND MADE A LEFT DOWNWIND DEP, CLBED TO 2400' MSL 2-3 MI SE OF HAWTHORNE AND MADE REQUEST FOR A FREQ CHANGE. HAWTHORNE TWR REPLIED 'UNABLE FREQ CHANGE.' 5 MI SE OF HAWTHORNE TWR GRANTED A FREQ CHANGE AND I PROCEEDED NW TOWARD OXNARD AND THAT BLOCK OF AIRSPACE WAS 2500' MSL. UPON ARR AT OXNARD ARPT AN OFFICIAL MET MY ACFT AND ESCORTED ME TO THE CTL TWR. I SPOKE ON THE PHONE TO THE AREA MGR OF THE LAX TCA AND EXPLAINED WHAT HAPPENED OVER THE PHONE. MY DECISION TO PENETRATE THIS BLOCK OF AIRSPACE WAS MADE BECAUSE I MISREAD THE CHART AND THOUGHT THE FLOOR OF THE TCA BEGAN AT 2500' AT THAT POINT.
