Narrative:
We arrived at our destination airport for the second time during the day. When we called unicom there was no answer. There had been no answer when we arrived the first time. We were not able to see the windsock as we flew over, either. The pilot's guide suggested right traffic for the north runway. We had used this runway earlier that day. We announced our intentions and entered the traffic pattern. As we turned base to final another aircraft announced that he was entering left traffic for the southbound runway. We immediately announced our position again. Just after this I saw an aircraft below as that had just taken off on the southbound runway. I immediately started a go around. Then I entered left traffic and landed to the south west/O incident. After we landed I asked if there was anybody monitoring the unicom. They said yes, but they don't answer much. I don't see what I could have done differently to prevent this. I followed the book for uncontrolled field operations. I tried to get a landing advisory from unicom, no answer. I flew overhead and looked for the windsock, I could not see it. Finally I followed the pilot's guide that said right traffic for the north runway. I guess that's why they call it an uncontrolled field. I feel this could have been prevented if the unicom had answered. Also I wonder why the aircraft took off while we were landing.

Title: LNDG SMT HAS A CONFLICT WITH ACFT TAKING OFF OPPOSITE DIRECTION AT UNCONTROLLED ARPT.
Narrative: WE ARRIVED AT OUR DEST ARPT FOR THE SECOND TIME DURING THE DAY. WHEN WE CALLED UNICOM THERE WAS NO ANSWER. THERE HAD BEEN NO ANSWER WHEN WE ARRIVED THE FIRST TIME. WE WERE NOT ABLE TO SEE THE WINDSOCK AS WE FLEW OVER, EITHER. THE PLT'S GUIDE SUGGESTED RIGHT TFC FOR THE N RWY. WE HAD USED THIS RWY EARLIER THAT DAY. WE ANNOUNCED OUR INTENTIONS AND ENTERED THE TFC PATTERN. AS WE TURNED BASE TO FINAL ANOTHER ACFT ANNOUNCED THAT HE WAS ENTERING LEFT TFC FOR THE SBND RWY. WE IMMEDIATELY ANNOUNCED OUR POS AGAIN. JUST AFTER THIS I SAW AN ACFT BELOW AS THAT HAD JUST TAKEN OFF ON THE SBND RWY. I IMMEDIATELY STARTED A GAR. THEN I ENTERED LEFT TFC AND LANDED TO THE S W/O INCIDENT. AFTER WE LANDED I ASKED IF THERE WAS ANYBODY MONITORING THE UNICOM. THEY SAID YES, BUT THEY DON'T ANSWER MUCH. I DON'T SEE WHAT I COULD HAVE DONE DIFFERENTLY TO PREVENT THIS. I FOLLOWED THE BOOK FOR UNCONTROLLED FIELD OPS. I TRIED TO GET A LNDG ADVISORY FROM UNICOM, NO ANSWER. I FLEW OVERHEAD AND LOOKED FOR THE WINDSOCK, I COULD NOT SEE IT. FINALLY I FOLLOWED THE PLT'S GUIDE THAT SAID RIGHT TFC FOR THE N RWY. I GUESS THAT'S WHY THEY CALL IT AN UNCONTROLLED FIELD. I FEEL THIS COULD HAVE BEEN PREVENTED IF THE UNICOM HAD ANSWERED. ALSO I WONDER WHY THE ACFT TOOK OFF WHILE WE WERE LNDG.
