Narrative:
During visual approach; just prior to outer marker; nose gear unsafe indication noted. Executed a 'soft go-around' procedure. Executed QRH procedure which resulted in confirmed proper nose gear extension. Followed all appropriate company procedures and coordination items and returned for an uneventful landing runway. After landing; [we] had landing gear system 'pinned' as an additional precaution before repositioning to the gate. Mechanical malfunction of the landing gear system.
