Narrative:
On climb out from dfw, just at level off at FL310 we received a TCAS alert to climb to avoid traffic. We continued to climb about 600' then returned to FL310. We never saw the traffic. The alert may have been false but like GPWS it is better to react than be sorry.

Title: ALT OVERSHOOT ACCOUNT TCAS WARNING.
Narrative: ON CLBOUT FROM DFW, JUST AT LEVEL OFF AT FL310 WE RECEIVED A TCAS ALERT TO CLB TO AVOID TFC. WE CONTINUED TO CLB ABOUT 600' THEN RETURNED TO FL310. WE NEVER SAW THE TFC. THE ALERT MAY HAVE BEEN FALSE BUT LIKE GPWS IT IS BETTER TO REACT THAN BE SORRY.
