Narrative:
After landing, captain pulled off active runway, and engaged gust lock. It was windy, but this was a non standard procedure and locks power levers in idle position. I was thinking about this while running the after landing checklist when tower advised, 'when clear, call ground .8.' as I caught up in my cockpit duties (perhaps 20 seconds), the captain had cleared the runway, entered the taxiway and crossed a cross runway all west/O clearance. I immediately called ground. They said to taxi in west/O mentioning our crossing of the other runway. We are often in a hurry and keep on taxiing when clear of a runway west/O clearance. Perhaps we should all remember to taxi clear of the runway, then stop until further clearance is issued.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: CORP FLT CREW TAXIS WITHOUT CLRNC AND CROSSES RWY.
Narrative: AFTER LNDG, CAPT PULLED OFF ACTIVE RWY, AND ENGAGED GUST LOCK. IT WAS WINDY, BUT THIS WAS A NON STANDARD PROC AND LOCKS PWR LEVERS IN IDLE POS. I WAS THINKING ABOUT THIS WHILE RUNNING THE AFTER LNDG CHKLIST WHEN TWR ADVISED, 'WHEN CLR, CALL GND .8.' AS I CAUGHT UP IN MY COCKPIT DUTIES (PERHAPS 20 SECS), THE CAPT HAD CLRED THE RWY, ENTERED THE TXWY AND CROSSED A CROSS RWY ALL W/O CLRNC. I IMMEDIATELY CALLED GND. THEY SAID TO TAXI IN W/O MENTIONING OUR XING OF THE OTHER RWY. WE ARE OFTEN IN A HURRY AND KEEP ON TAXIING WHEN CLR OF A RWY W/O CLRNC. PERHAPS WE SHOULD ALL REMEMBER TO TAXI CLR OF THE RWY, THEN STOP UNTIL FURTHER CLRNC IS ISSUED.
