Narrative:
Landing gear jammed on retraction halfway. Attempted to recycle gear with no response. Leveled off at lower altitude and requested vectors from ATC while we worked on the issue. Followed the emergency procedures in our manual and attempted to extend the gear back down. The manual gear extension handle locked in the forward position and we did not have three green lights. Did a fly-by of the tower after consulting with our maintenance people. The gear according to them was not fully extended. We went out away from the airport and I once again tried to move the manual gear extension handle. I pulled as hard as I could on the handle and it snapped loose. I was then able to pump the gear down the rest of the way and had three green lights. The landing was uneventful. Emergency equipment was called as a precaution prior to landing.
