Narrative:
Very near miss/midair with white glider while on the FISSK4 arrival into mdw. Was at 250 knots [and] 4;000 feet as I recall in contact with chicago. Approximately over igq airport; close to the boundary of the mode C veil on the charts. Glider came from left to right; I saw it at the last second and realized it was going to come very close in front of us but we were not going to collide. No time to react or even say anything or take the controls from the sic. I alerted chicago of the near miss and at that time said we missed by 500 feet. After analyzing the event it was much closer; maybe 100 feet - 200 feet vertical and horizontal. I could see the pilot inside the glider. No TCAS alert or target; even with it on the 7.5 mile range. Chicago had no target or communications with the glider. No evasive maneuver was accomplished. Landed uneventful and passengers were unaware of the event.
