Narrative:
Captain tuned in VOR frequency 115.7 to identify intercept radial for V213 (clearance was V292 to intercept V213). Due to glare from morning sun, 115.9 (jfk) was mistakenly dialed in. During high vol of ATC communication the 209 degree right (intercept radial came alive--note wrong frequency) and the copilot who was flying turned to intercept. Almost immediately ATC questioned new heading which was passing 215 degrees. We were immediately given new heading to intercept 209 degree right of V213.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: ACR LGT TRACK HEADING DEVIATION. CAPT TUNED IN THE WRONG VOR AND NO ONE CHECKED THE IDENTIFIER.
Narrative: CAPT TUNED IN VOR FREQ 115.7 TO IDENT INTERCEPT RADIAL FOR V213 (CLRNC WAS V292 TO INTERCEPT V213). DUE TO GLARE FROM MORNING SUN, 115.9 (JFK) WAS MISTAKENLY DIALED IN. DURING HIGH VOL OF ATC COM THE 209 DEG R (INTERCEPT RADIAL CAME ALIVE--NOTE WRONG FREQ) AND THE COPLT WHO WAS FLYING TURNED TO INTERCEPT. ALMOST IMMEDIATELY ATC QUESTIONED NEW HDG WHICH WAS PASSING 215 DEGS. WE WERE IMMEDIATELY GIVEN NEW HDG TO INTERCEPT 209 DEG R OF V213.
