Narrative:
Captain was taxiing aircraft. Ground control cleared us from terminal ramp to runway 13R to hold short of runway 4R, which was active landing runway. I was working radios and running flows and checklists. I acknowledged taxi instructions. In accordance with company operations specifications, the captain is to repeat all taxi clrncs as he understands them to verify both crew members understand clearance. I got caught up in doing my preflight duties and did not verify his readback. As a result he thought we were cleared to cross 4R en route to 13R. While my head was down in the cockpit, the captain taxied past the 4R hold line. Ground control saw us and issued an immediate hold short--an aircraft was landing. The captain successfully stopped the aircraft before we taxied onto the runway. In future, I will ensure all capts repeat aloud all taxi instructions and will be more alert to all hold short instructions and pertinent instructions.

WHILE MY HEAD WAS DOWN IN THE COCKPIT, THE CAPT TAXIED PAST THE 4R HOLD LINE. GND CTL SAW US AND ISSUED AN IMMEDIATE HOLD SHORT--AN ACFT WAS LNDG. THE CAPT SUCCESSFULLY STOPPED THE ACFT BEFORE WE TAXIED ONTO THE RWY. IN FUTURE, I WILL ENSURE ALL CAPTS REPEAT ALOUD ALL TAXI INSTRUCTIONS AND WILL BE MORE ALERT TO ALL HOLD SHORT INSTRUCTIONS AND PERTINENT INSTRUCTIONS.
