Narrative:
Upon departure from ash (following gear door modification) retraction of landing failed to give a red up and locked light. 2 attempts of cycling the gear, and by visibility confirmation, revealed that the landing gear would not lock in the up position, nor would it extend to the down and locked position. I advised bos approach of my circumstances. While being cleared to owd airport, I tried the emergency gear extension handle. After 2 pumps of the handle, pressure in the lever dissipated providing the clue that the hydraulic system had become void of fluid. Upon being handed off to owd tower, I was connected with a mechanic on the ground. He confirmed my suspicions on the hydraulic system, verifying that once the system is deplete of fluid, the impossibility of getting the gear into either locked position. After serious deliberation and consulting the poh for further clues to emergency gear extension, several aerobatic maneuvers were tried to extend the gear. A low level flyby the control tower proved the main gear to be in a trailing position. At this point I requested the presence of the local fire department was in place and ready, I was cleared to land. I set up final approach slightly high and reduced airspeed to glide speed. When 1/4 mi from T/D, I pulled the mixture control, cut the mags and opened and latched the pilot's door. Upon flaring and prior to T/D, the master switch was turned to off. A T/D speed of approximately 62 mph occurred as the fuselage touched the runway. Halfway down the runway I became a passenger as the aircraft left the runway and slid 25 yds to the edge of the woods. A quick exodus was made as the fire department checked the aircraft for fire and/or leaking fluids.

Title: PLT OF SMA UNABLE TO LOWER GEAR TO SAFE INDICATING POSITION. LANDED WITH GEAR PARTIALLY DOWN. MINOR DAMAGE TO ACFT.
Narrative: UPON DEP FROM ASH (FOLLOWING GEAR DOOR MODIFICATION) RETRACTION OF LNDG FAILED TO GIVE A RED UP AND LOCKED LIGHT. 2 ATTEMPTS OF CYCLING THE GEAR, AND BY VIS CONFIRMATION, REVEALED THAT THE LNDG GEAR WOULD NOT LOCK IN THE UP POS, NOR WOULD IT EXTEND TO THE DOWN AND LOCKED POS. I ADVISED BOS APCH OF MY CIRCUMSTANCES. WHILE BEING CLRED TO OWD ARPT, I TRIED THE EMER GEAR EXTENSION HANDLE. AFTER 2 PUMPS OF THE HANDLE, PRESSURE IN THE LEVER DISSIPATED PROVIDING THE CLUE THAT THE HYD SYS HAD BECOME VOID OF FLUID. UPON BEING HANDED OFF TO OWD TWR, I WAS CONNECTED WITH A MECH ON THE GND. HE CONFIRMED MY SUSPICIONS ON THE HYD SYS, VERIFYING THAT ONCE THE SYS IS DEPLETE OF FLUID, THE IMPOSSIBILITY OF GETTING THE GEAR INTO EITHER LOCKED POS. AFTER SERIOUS DELIBERATION AND CONSULTING THE POH FOR FURTHER CLUES TO EMER GEAR EXTENSION, SEVERAL AEROBATIC MANEUVERS WERE TRIED TO EXTEND THE GEAR. A LOW LEVEL FLYBY THE CTL TWR PROVED THE MAIN GEAR TO BE IN A TRAILING POS. AT THIS POINT I REQUESTED THE PRESENCE OF THE LCL FIRE DEPT WAS IN PLACE AND READY, I WAS CLRED TO LAND. I SET UP FINAL APCH SLIGHTLY HIGH AND REDUCED AIRSPD TO GLIDE SPD. WHEN 1/4 MI FROM T/D, I PULLED THE MIXTURE CTL, CUT THE MAGS AND OPENED AND LATCHED THE PLT'S DOOR. UPON FLARING AND PRIOR TO T/D, THE MASTER SWITCH WAS TURNED TO OFF. A T/D SPD OF APPROX 62 MPH OCCURRED AS THE FUSELAGE TOUCHED THE RWY. HALFWAY DOWN THE RWY I BECAME A PAX AS THE ACFT LEFT THE RWY AND SLID 25 YDS TO THE EDGE OF THE WOODS. A QUICK EXODUS WAS MADE AS THE FIRE DEPT CHKED THE ACFT FOR FIRE AND/OR LEAKING FLUIDS.
