Narrative:
In final descent phase of flight approximately 15 minutes prior to landing; odor was detected on flight deck; flight attendant advised odor throughout the cabin and reported by passengers. Odor dissipated somewhat; but reoccurred. Upon gate arrival; no odor detected. Flight dispatch; maintenance control and duty pilot notified. Flight attendants requested medical evaluation. Advised by maintenance control failure of recirculating was the cause of the problem.

Title: A321 Captain reported undefined odor on flight deck and cabin on initial approach which dissipated periodically. Flight attendants requested medical evaluation.
