Narrative:
Approach called traffic initially at 6800' and climbing at 1 O'clock and same direction. We had leveled 8000' and obtained visibility on traffic. He would have cleared our aircraft ok, however TCAS increased from a TA to an RA, to which we were required to respond per TCAS procedure. We initiated a climb and advised ATC. We climbed to 8400' MSL before resuming normal flight at termination of TCAS advisory.
