After approximately 1:10 hours flight time in aircraft X crew noticed strong fuel and oil odors in the cockpit. Odors came up every time when selecting power below approx. 15'map regardless of airspeed; pitch or bank. Crew discontinued the approach at [private airport]; opened the canopy to ventilate the cabin and diverted back to ZZZ. Thereafter; crew contacted maintenance. Crew contacted flight surgeon for physical examination.
