Narrative:
On approach to landing at ZZZ the amber leading edge transit light came on and stayed on. Diverted to ZZZ1 after running the appropriate checklists; 'tests' [requested priority handling] and ran the flaps 15 abnormal checklist and landing data for flaps 15 landing (manual version and data from dispatch). From our holding fix (zzzzz) ZZZ1 was approx. 40 nm closer than ZZZ2 captains emergency authority was used. Landed at ZZZ1 flaps 15 without further events.
