Narrative:
Upon boarding the plane I saw the B flight attendant using a portable dust buster like vacuum to clean the cabin carpeting. I didn't know it at the time; but this was his personal device. After we took off and began service; I looked at it again and realized that if the device had a thermal battery fire; there was no way it would have fit into a containment bag. Prohibit crewmembers from using/bringing personal battery powered devices that are too big for a containment bag on board the airplane.
