Narrative:
While waiting to get a special VFR (visual flight rules) approach the engine began losing power; so ATC was advised. Upon landing safely at the airport a mechanic inspected the engine and discovered that the crossover tube to the air intake had severed causing the engine to suck too much air and not enough fuel.

Title: C182 pilot reported that a leak in the engine air intake resulted in a loss of power during approach.
Narrative: While waiting to get a Special VFR (Visual Flight Rules) approach the engine began losing power; so ATC was advised.
