Narrative:
Departed pwk with no passenger (return trip home). At that time I had no indication that I had a door problem. Upon departure I entered turbulence until passing about 6000'. Cruise was at 8000'. Most of the turbulence was moderate. I think that it played a large roll in the bottom half of the door coming open. I later found that this aircraft has had this problem before. I told ZAU that I had a problem (I did not declare an emergency). Center gave me radar vector to the kankakee airport that I landed. The aircraft was very stable.
