Narrative:
Started the APU and brought the packs on line. Cabin attendants reported a strange smell and the appearance of smoke in the cabin. Called line maintenance to inspect the problem. By the time line maintenance arrived at the aircraft; the smoke and odor had disappeared. Continued boarding the aircraft. Flight departed uneventfully.

Title: A320 flight crew reported notification of a faint smoke in passenger cabin during preflight with APU supplying packs. Smoke dissipated prior to Maintenance arrival.
