Narrative:

Pilot was en route to a 4 day animal capture job. Upon reaching the destination, the first day winds were 30-35 mph. After shutdown pilot opened door and aircraft log book feel to the ground and papers flew away. Upon inspection, pilot discovered that only papers missing were ad's list and maintenance and inspections list. Pilot did not concern himself with getting another list because he knew he had 35 hours until next 50 hour check and 41 hours until tail rotor blade change. Aircraft flew 30 hours on job and returned to home base. Upon running a new computerized maintenance list, it was discovered aircraft was flown 10 hours over 50 hour and 4 hours past tail rotor blade change. Besides being unprofessional, it was also very embarrassing for pilot because he is also the safety officer. Lesson learned is that one cannot rely on memory alone. Aircraft should not have been flown until next maintenance schedule is ascertained. With this day and age and as many facs with a facsimile machine, there was no need to operate west/O a current list.

Title: PLT OF HELICOPTER LOST INSPECTION TIME PAPERS AND OVER-ESTIMATED LEGAL FLT TIME REMAINING BEFORE INSPECTION AND ROTOR CHANGE AND OVERFLEW BOTH BEFORE OBTAINING COMPUTER COPY OF CORRECT TIMES.

Narrative: PLT WAS ENRTE TO A 4 DAY ANIMAL CAPTURE JOB. UPON REACHING THE DEST, THE FIRST DAY WINDS WERE 30-35 MPH. AFTER SHUTDOWN PLT OPENED DOOR AND ACFT LOG BOOK FEEL TO THE GND AND PAPERS FLEW AWAY. UPON INSPECTION, PLT DISCOVERED THAT ONLY PAPERS MISSING WERE AD'S LIST AND MAINT AND INSPECTIONS LIST. PLT DID NOT CONCERN HIMSELF WITH GETTING ANOTHER LIST BECAUSE HE KNEW HE HAD 35 HRS UNTIL NEXT 50 HR CHK AND 41 HRS UNTIL TAIL ROTOR BLADE CHANGE. ACFT FLEW 30 HRS ON JOB AND RETURNED TO HOME BASE. UPON RUNNING A NEW COMPUTERIZED MAINT LIST, IT WAS DISCOVERED ACFT WAS FLOWN 10 HRS OVER 50 HR AND 4 HRS PAST TAIL ROTOR BLADE CHANGE. BESIDES BEING UNPROFESSIONAL, IT WAS ALSO VERY EMBARRASSING FOR PLT BECAUSE HE IS ALSO THE SAFETY OFFICER. LESSON LEARNED IS THAT ONE CANNOT RELY ON MEMORY ALONE. ACFT SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN FLOWN UNTIL NEXT MAINT SCHEDULE IS ASCERTAINED. WITH THIS DAY AND AGE AND AS MANY FACS WITH A FAX MACHINE, THERE WAS NO NEED TO OPERATE W/O A CURRENT LIST.
