Narrative:
Air carrier X, an medium large transport, climbing off bna, assigned and acknowledged 5000', climbed through his altitude. Air carrier X then assigned 6000', climbed through his altitude, also after acknowledging his assigned altitude. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following: reporter stated a pilot deviation was filed and the incident investigated. The reporter stated that air carrier X reported on frequency out of 2000', climbing to 5000'. When air carrier X climbed through his assigned altitude, the reporter issued air carrier Y as traffic at 7000' and issued air carrier X 6000'. Air carrier X also violated that altitude assignment. C/a activated.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: ACR X UNAUTH CLIMB TO OCCUPIED ALT HAD LESS THAN STANDARD SEPARATION FROM ACR Y. PLT DEVIATION.
Narrative: ACR X, AN MLG, CLBING OFF BNA, ASSIGNED AND ACKNOWLEDGED 5000', CLBED THROUGH HIS ALT. ACR X THEN ASSIGNED 6000', CLBED THROUGH HIS ALT, ALSO AFTER ACKNOWLEDGING HIS ASSIGNED ALT. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING: RPTR STATED A PLTDEV WAS FILED AND THE INCIDENT INVESTIGATED. THE RPTR STATED THAT ACR X RPTED ON FREQ OUT OF 2000', CLBING TO 5000'. WHEN ACR X CLBED THROUGH HIS ASSIGNED ALT, THE RPTR ISSUED ACR Y AS TFC AT 7000' AND ISSUED ACR X 6000'. ACR X ALSO VIOLATED THAT ALT ASSIGNMENT. C/A ACTIVATED.
