Narrative:
When approaching ny area, approach tried twice to contact. I responded 3 times on communication 1. Switched to communication 2 with no results. Went to hand-held microphone with no results. Because of my location, went to 7700 (should have been 7500--couldn't remember code). Approach understood problem. Used transponder to acknowledge received messages. Landed frg with tower communications obviously an intermittent problem with radios. Departed for 1b9 on same route. Again lost communications and went to 7700 with ocean approach. Communications intermittent remainder of flight. Landed 1b9. Problem seems to be wiring or intercom system still not resolved.
