Narrative:

Dfw ATIS called WX 'clear 7.' approach called us with, 'winds calm, do you want runway 31R?' I accepted and asked for current dfw WX because we were in clouds. He replied, '700 scattered and good visibility.' we were cleared for an ILS 31R and broke out at 500' AGL. There were several company aircraft behind us on ILS 31R, also. After landing I told tower about breaking out at 500'. They kept shooting ILS 17L and 31R, also. We think it was unsafe and almost aborted approach because of low clouds and visibility. Now I think I should not have accepted runway 31R!!!!
