Narrative:
In accordance with far 135.19, I am sending this report on 4/tue/91. I reported for duty at pm hours and lacked 3 takeoffs and lndgs in 90 days to be night current. I was the only EMS pilot available at the time to support our contract. I intended to acquire the 3 takeoffs and landing when the 1 hour after official sunset came. At pm:43 hours, I accepted a cardiac arrest flight which was within the day currency requirements here in ZZZ. My ground time at the patient's hospital was extended due to the emergency nature of his situation. In an effort to protect the life and property of others, I elected to return to the receiving hospital with the patient. At this time, pm:59 hours, I became non current at night. After delivering the cardiac patient and medical crew, I completed the required 2 takeoffs and lndgs to regain my night currency. I was 13 days past my 90 day currency period, upon completing this mission I had 6 takeoffs and lndgs at night in 103 days. To correct this in the future, I will come in on my time off and fly the required takeoffs and lndgs prior to beginning duty.
