Narrative:
During a flight from pdk to jax, aircraft was cleared direct to the airport and directed to descend from 14000' MSL to 11000' MSL. 2 loud thumps were heard. Throttles were at idle, 250 KIAS. All engine instruments were, and remained normal. After landing it was discovered that the upper engine (right engine) cowling was missing (approximately 4 1/2' X 3'). Aircraft had extensive maintenance 7 days, 4 flts (9 legs), 14.8 hours prior including a, B, C, D phase inspection, and hot section inspection on both engines during which all engine cowls were removed and reinstalled. All, except one, leading edge cam-lock fasteners remained with the aircraft. Believe loss occurred over uninhabited wooded area southeast of waycross GA on the crg VORTAC 320 degree right 65 DME. The maintenance facility denies culpability by virtue of 14.8 flying hours. Factory notified. Preflight thoroughness is assured by virtue of copilot waxing nacelles prior to this flight (owner onboard).

Title: SMT JET TYPE ACFT LOST PART OF COWLING ON DESCENT INTO JAX.
Narrative: DURING A FLT FROM PDK TO JAX, ACFT WAS CLRED DIRECT TO THE ARPT AND DIRECTED TO DSND FROM 14000' MSL TO 11000' MSL. 2 LOUD THUMPS WERE HEARD. THROTTLES WERE AT IDLE, 250 KIAS. ALL ENG INSTS WERE, AND REMAINED NORMAL. AFTER LNDG IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THE UPPER ENG (RIGHT ENG) COWLING WAS MISSING (APPROX 4 1/2' X 3'). ACFT HAD EXTENSIVE MAINT 7 DAYS, 4 FLTS (9 LEGS), 14.8 HRS PRIOR INCLUDING A, B, C, D PHASE INSPECTION, AND HOT SECTION INSPECTION ON BOTH ENGS DURING WHICH ALL ENG COWLS WERE REMOVED AND REINSTALLED. ALL, EXCEPT ONE, LEADING EDGE CAM-LOCK FASTENERS REMAINED WITH THE ACFT. BELIEVE LOSS OCCURRED OVER UNINHABITED WOODED AREA SE OF WAYCROSS GA ON THE CRG VORTAC 320 DEG R 65 DME. THE MAINT FAC DENIES CULPABILITY BY VIRTUE OF 14.8 FLYING HRS. FACTORY NOTIFIED. PREFLT THOROUGHNESS IS ASSURED BY VIRTUE OF COPLT WAXING NACELLES PRIOR TO THIS FLT (OWNER ONBOARD).
