Narrative:
VFR flight from cody, wy to slc on approaching slc attempted to contact approach control for at least 10 mins. Not sure of distance from TCA. The controller was very busy with airline's traffic. The controller then answered by saying aircraft identify get off of the frequency. Since 124.3 is the only published frequency on my approach charts. I did not know who to call. The situation was very frustrating. I feel that the controller placed me in a position that was not of my doing. I do not feel that a controller has a right to tell me to 'get off of the frequency.' I feel that I have as much right to use the frequency as the airlines. I am not familiar with the area. I then contacted a center controller who took me 25 mi west of slc and gave me another frequency to call approach. Finally, after 60 mi and 25 min later landed at slc.

Title: GA SMT UNAUTH PENETRATION OF AIRSPACE.
Narrative: VFR FLT FROM CODY, WY TO SLC ON APCHING SLC ATTEMPTED TO CONTACT APCH CTL FOR AT LEAST 10 MINS. NOT SURE OF DISTANCE FROM TCA. THE CTLR WAS VERY BUSY WITH AIRLINE'S TFC. THE CTLR THEN ANSWERED BY SAYING ACFT IDENT GET OFF OF THE FREQ. SINCE 124.3 IS THE ONLY PUBLISHED FREQ ON MY APCH CHARTS. I DID NOT KNOW WHO TO CALL. THE SITUATION WAS VERY FRUSTRATING. I FEEL THAT THE CTLR PLACED ME IN A POS THAT WAS NOT OF MY DOING. I DO NOT FEEL THAT A CTLR HAS A RIGHT TO TELL ME TO 'GET OFF OF THE FREQ.' I FEEL THAT I HAVE AS MUCH RIGHT TO USE THE FREQ AS THE AIRLINES. I AM NOT FAMILIAR WITH THE AREA. I THEN CONTACTED A CENTER CTLR WHO TOOK ME 25 MI W OF SLC AND GAVE ME ANOTHER FREQ TO CALL APCH. FINALLY, AFTER 60 MI AND 25 MIN LATER LANDED AT SLC.
