Narrative:
I knew the meet was this weekend. I thought it was saturday and sunday. Warning flyer states warning will be posted at least 1 week prior. It was not posted at denton until after we returned from this flight. Temporary tower was not operating at time of departure. No other aircraft was running nor moving at this time of departure. Tower did not gave light signals. I had self-briefed WX this morning on tv and radio. I did not know the box was prohibited at the time. After verifying that there was no other traffic in the area, student and I departed through the box at 250' AGL. Returning from the practice area, we crossed midfield at 150 degrees entering a left downwind for 17. There were 2 other aircraft in the pattern. There was no spacing problem. Our small aircraft has not radio. Situation would have been avoided if I had checked for NOTAMS or if warning flyer had been displayed.
