Narrative:
Had passed yager intersection (29 DME) and told would have to hold 1 turn at knees due to another aircraft ahead of us on the approach. Thought he said hold southeast. As I started the turn, he had a low terrain warning and we immediately turned as instructed back to the localizer and completed the approach uneventfully. I was still at 6000' and had 50 mi visibility above the coastal stratus, tops 3000'.
