Narrative:
Due to deteriorating WX in new england, ground instructed us to notify them 5 mins prior to pushback for ATC release time. Approximately 1 min prior to push, we called them to notify them per previous instructions. We were then instructed to notify them when ready to taxi. After pushing back we were told to call them in the future before pushing back for pushback clearance. It appears they are assuming that 'call prior to taxi' means call prior to push, for push and taxi clearance. Additionally, they gave us taxi instructions to a new taxiway F which is not depicted on the commercial plates nor was it in the company messages. This is part of the ATC mentality that air crews know the layout of their own personal airfields which of course is not the case as has been proved at places like detroit and tenerife. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: the latest commercial chart has taxiway F depicted. The reporter was more upset about the ATC attitude in general about pilots and flcs than by this incident and said he did receive instructions from the ground controller to taxiway F.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: ACR CAPT COMPLAINT ABOUT BEING CLRED TO TAXI TO A TAXIWAY NOT SHOWN ON THE COMMERCIAL ARPT PLATE.
Narrative: DUE TO DETERIORATING WX IN NEW ENGLAND, GND INSTRUCTED US TO NOTIFY THEM 5 MINS PRIOR TO PUSHBACK FOR ATC RELEASE TIME. APPROX 1 MIN PRIOR TO PUSH, WE CALLED THEM TO NOTIFY THEM PER PREVIOUS INSTRUCTIONS. WE WERE THEN INSTRUCTED TO NOTIFY THEM WHEN READY TO TAXI. AFTER PUSHING BACK WE WERE TOLD TO CALL THEM IN THE FUTURE BEFORE PUSHING BACK FOR PUSHBACK CLRNC. IT APPEARS THEY ARE ASSUMING THAT 'CALL PRIOR TO TAXI' MEANS CALL PRIOR TO PUSH, FOR PUSH AND TAXI CLRNC. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: THE LATEST COMMERCIAL CHART HAS TAXIWAY F DEPICTED. THE RPTR WAS MORE UPSET ABOUT THE ATC ATTITUDE IN GENERAL ABOUT PLTS AND FLCS THAN BY THIS INCIDENT AND SAID HE DID RECEIVE INSTRUCTIONS FROM THE GND CTLR TO TAXIWAY F.
