Narrative:
ATC gave one of my flts a rerte due traffic at dfw, the rerte was issued just after departure from tpa en route to dfw. ATC told the crew to fly direct to lch J2 houston then turn to aus. The crew called me (their dispatcher) to inform. I told them this was not acceptable. For ATC was routing them through thunderstorm activity and adding 30+ mins to their flight time. I was looking at color radar along with the meteorologist and both agreed ATC was wrong. I told the captain to fly J4 over jan and shv then dfw to stay away from buildups on south (ATC) route. He agreed and told ATC his and my desires. ATC refused! There is a breech of the PIC authority and the coresponsibility of the aircraft dispatcher, ATC is to separate the air traffic and not the operation of our air carrier. Their answer was they saw no buildups. Let me repeat that is not their job. The safety and flight planning is the dispatcher's, my ticket not theirs. This happens more and more. It is time ATC recognize our responsibility in the safety loop. There was no incident, the flight arrived 40 min late. If he needed to hold at dfw he could not due to the unnecessary rerte by ATC. By the way, the few cells around dfw passed to the southeast of the field. My route put the flight behind the movement and on time with few thunderstorms en route. Too bad we did not go that way.

Title: ARTCC GAVE AN ACR MLG A RERTE THAT WAS NOT ACCEPTABLE TO THE FLC OR COMPANY DISPATCHER BUT THEY WOULD NOT RESCIND THE RERTE WHEN CLRNC WAS QUESTIONED. THE FLC OBJECTED BECAUSE OF FORECAST ENRTE TSTM ACTIVITY AND ADDITIONAL TIME TO DEST.
Narrative: ATC GAVE ONE OF MY FLTS A RERTE DUE TFC AT DFW, THE RERTE WAS ISSUED JUST AFTER DEP FROM TPA ENRTE TO DFW. ATC TOLD THE CREW TO FLY DIRECT TO LCH J2 HOUSTON THEN TURN TO AUS. THERE IS A BREECH OF THE PIC AUTHORITY AND THE CORESPONSIBILITY OF THE ACFT DISPATCHER, ATC IS TO SEPARATE THE AIR TFC AND NOT THE OP OF OUR AIR CARRIER. THEIR ANSWER WAS THEY SAW NO BUILDUPS.
