Narrative:
The problem was that I flew while I was not current. Air carrier company's yrly recurrent training consists of 3 days: first day is general ground and security, second day is on aircraft system particular to your specific aircraft and the third day consists of a simulator check ride. I was scheduled for recurrent on aug/wed-thu/91. I missed the first day due to the fact that air carrier did not notify me as to where my training would take place, so I wrongly assumed it would take place at my domicile in new york. I called air carrier on aug/tue/91 and they said that yes, training would take place in new york. My base month for training is jul and my grace month is aug. If I didn't complete my training in aug I would have to complete it in sep before I could fly. I didn't understand that I would be illegal to fly just by missing the first day of training. I thought that the simulator check would make me legal. Air carrier scheduled me to complete training on sep/tue/91. Air carrier scheduling called me on aug/fri/91 at AM30 and assigned me trips for sep/mon-tue-wed-thu/91. Nothing further was said to me until sep/mon/91 at PM05 a.M. When air carrier scheduling called and said not to come to training since I had gotten into late from my trip the night before and wasn't legal to attend. They also said that there was a legal problem with me flying the preceding 5 days but not to worry, since it was their fault for scheduling me. Air carrier set me up to complete my training on sep/thu/91, which I did. After completing my training on sep/thu/91, I reported, as requested, to chief pilot, captain X, to discuss the matter. He informed me that the simulator check did not complete my training and that I was illegal for those trips and that even though air carrier was responsible to keep me legal, I am also responsible to keep myself legal. This unfortunate incident could have been avoided if I had been better informed and if air carrier scheduling had put in their computer that I would need to complete training before flying in sep.

Title: ACR SO ILLEGAL FOR TRIPS FLOWN IN GRACE MONTH OF RECURRENT TRAINING AS HE MISSED THE FIRST DAY OF THE SCHEDULED GND SCHOOL IN TRAINING RECEIVED PRIOR TO THOSE FLTS.
Narrative: THE PROBLEM WAS THAT I FLEW WHILE I WAS NOT CURRENT. ACR COMPANY'S YRLY RECURRENT TRAINING CONSISTS OF 3 DAYS: FIRST DAY IS GENERAL GND AND SECURITY, SECOND DAY IS ON ACFT SYS PARTICULAR TO YOUR SPECIFIC ACFT AND THE THIRD DAY CONSISTS OF A SIMULATOR CHK RIDE. I WAS SCHEDULED FOR RECURRENT ON AUG/WED-THU/91. I MISSED THE FIRST DAY DUE TO THE FACT THAT ACR DID NOT NOTIFY ME AS TO WHERE MY TRAINING WOULD TAKE PLACE, SO I WRONGLY ASSUMED IT WOULD TAKE PLACE AT MY DOMICILE IN NEW YORK. I CALLED ACR ON AUG/TUE/91 AND THEY SAID THAT YES, TRAINING WOULD TAKE PLACE IN NEW YORK. MY BASE MONTH FOR TRAINING IS JUL AND MY GRACE MONTH IS AUG. I THOUGHT THAT THE SIMULATOR CHK WOULD MAKE ME LEGAL. ACR SCHEDULED ME TO COMPLETE TRAINING ON SEP/TUE/91. ACR SCHEDULING CALLED ME ON AUG/FRI/91 AT AM30 AND ASSIGNED ME TRIPS FOR SEP/MON-TUE-WED-THU/91. NOTHING FURTHER WAS SAID TO ME UNTIL SEP/MON/91 AT PM05 A.M. WHEN ACR SCHEDULING CALLED AND SAID NOT TO COME TO TRAINING SINCE I HAD GOTTEN INTO LATE FROM MY TRIP THE NIGHT BEFORE AND WASN'T LEGAL TO ATTEND. THEY ALSO SAID THAT THERE WAS A LEGAL PROBLEM WITH ME FLYING THE PRECEDING 5 DAYS BUT NOT TO WORRY, SINCE IT WAS THEIR FAULT FOR SCHEDULING ME. ACR SET ME UP TO COMPLETE MY TRAINING ON SEP/THU/91, WHICH I DID. AFTER COMPLETING MY TRAINING ON SEP/THU/91, I RPTED, AS REQUESTED, TO CHIEF PLT, CAPT X, TO DISCUSS THE MATTER. HE INFORMED ME THAT THE SIMULATOR CHK DID NOT COMPLETE MY TRAINING AND THAT I WAS ILLEGAL FOR THOSE TRIPS AND THAT EVEN THOUGH ACR WAS RESPONSIBLE TO KEEP ME LEGAL, I AM ALSO RESPONSIBLE TO KEEP MYSELF LEGAL. THIS UNFORTUNATE INCIDENT COULD HAVE BEEN AVOIDED IF I HAD BEEN BETTER INFORMED AND IF ACR SCHEDULING HAD PUT IN THEIR COMPUTER THAT I WOULD NEED TO COMPLETE TRAINING BEFORE FLYING IN SEP.
