Narrative:
As my commercial student taxied in to park, we circled around to enter a parking space and I thought the left wing was getting close to the light pole, but his head blocked my already limited view out the left side. He said 'watching this tower' and I thought he saw the pole ('tower') and we were going to clear it, but he was looking at a 'tire' on the ground. As we contacted the pole, I realized he must not have seen the pole, he has a british accent. Since we were in an xx, I had no brakes anyway, but I now realize I need to be even more vigilant, even with an instrument rated and quite competent commercial student. I have only been a CFI for about 2 weeks and felt like we were making excellent progress on our second lesson, working on commercial maneuvers. I was trying to be more hands off since he was an advanced student, but perhaps I was a little too hands off.
