Narrative:
Normal engine start, taxied out of ramp area to runway in use, made right hand turn and taxied straight ahead to runway. No unusual noises, no 'thumps' or 'bumps'. Engine made normal runs. Made normal torque on takeoff, no noise, vibrations, unusual sounds. Approximately half way into flight, the comment was made that the engines sounded 'different'. Again, no noise, vibration, etc. Between 6000 and 3000 ft a 'fluttering' noise was heard, no vibrations, just a 'different' engine noise. Normal landing in dtw, reversed, pulled off first high speed in dtw (21R), made a left turn and taxied by the outer to the international terminal. Normal shutdown. Noticed right hand propeller blades scratched and bent. Supplemental information from acn 190657: we never felt any vibration of banging sound throughout the flight. I don't think we could have flown with the propeller that way so it must have happened at dfw.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: COMMUTER SMT FOREIGN OBJECT DAMAGE TAXIING OUT FOR TKOF AT YXU. PROBLEM DISCOVERED ON POSTFLT INSPECTION AT DTW.
Narrative: NORMAL ENG START, TAXIED OUT OF RAMP AREA TO RWY IN USE, MADE R HAND TURN AND TAXIED STRAIGHT AHEAD TO RWY. NO UNUSUAL NOISES, NO 'THUMPS' OR 'BUMPS'. ENG MADE NORMAL RUNS. MADE NORMAL TORQUE ON TKOF, NO NOISE, VIBRATIONS, UNUSUAL SOUNDS. APPROX HALF WAY INTO FLT, THE COMMENT WAS MADE THAT THE ENGS SOUNDED 'DIFFERENT'. AGAIN, NO NOISE, VIBRATION, ETC. BTWN 6000 AND 3000 FT A 'FLUTTERING' NOISE WAS HEARD, NO VIBRATIONS, JUST A 'DIFFERENT' ENG NOISE. NORMAL LNDG IN DTW, REVERSED, PULLED OFF FIRST HIGH SPD IN DTW (21R), MADE A L TURN AND TAXIED BY THE OUTER TO THE INTL TERMINAL. NORMAL SHUTDOWN. NOTICED R HAND PROP BLADES SCRATCHED AND BENT. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 190657: WE NEVER FELT ANY VIBRATION OF BANGING SOUND THROUGHOUT THE FLT. I DON'T THINK WE COULD HAVE FLOWN WITH THE PROP THAT WAY SO IT MUST HAVE HAPPENED AT DFW.
