Narrative:
Houston center clears our aircraft direct 'depoe' intersection, aircraft acknowledges 'depoe', short time later center states aircraft track in error for 'bevoe' intersection. (Both depoe and bevoe are in close proximity to one another; 26 to 30 NM northeast austin, tx). Aircraft reminds center that 'depoe' was acknowledged in earlier transmission. Center states that track is in error for 'depoe' as well. Aircraft then given heading to join radial aus 055 degree. After a quick turn in austin, a different houston center sector confirms aircraft RNAV equipment functions normally. Problem may have been avoided with the phonetic spelling of the intended intersection, as 'depoe' and 'bevoe' sound very similar and center issued bevoe. Our aircraft acknowledged depoe.

Title: CORP ACFT HAD HDG DEV DUE SIMILAR SOUNDING INTXN NAMES.
Narrative: HOUSTON CENTER CLRS OUR ACFT DIRECT 'DEPOE' INTXN, ACFT ACKNOWLEDGES 'DEPOE', SHORT TIME LATER CENTER STATES ACFT TRACK IN ERROR FOR 'BEVOE' INTXN. (BOTH DEPOE AND BEVOE ARE IN CLOSE PROX TO ONE ANOTHER; 26 TO 30 NM NE AUSTIN, TX). ACFT REMINDS CENTER THAT 'DEPOE' WAS ACKNOWLEDGED IN EARLIER XMISSION. CENTER STATES THAT TRACK IS IN ERROR FOR 'DEPOE' AS WELL. ACFT THEN GIVEN HDG TO JOIN RADIAL AUS 055 DEG. AFTER A QUICK TURN IN AUSTIN, A DIFFERENT HOUSTON CENTER SECTOR CONFIRMS ACFT RNAV EQUIP FUNCTIONS NORMALLY. PROBLEM MAY HAVE BEEN AVOIDED WITH THE PHONETIC SPELLING OF THE INTENDED INTXN, AS 'DEPOE' AND 'BEVOE' SOUND VERY SIMILAR AND CENTER ISSUED BEVOE. OUR ACFT ACKNOWLEDGED DEPOE.
