Narrative:
Aircraft operated under SVFR. Broken fog with tops at 700 AGL at the west end of runway 24. Aircraft operator was able to maintain VFR at traffic pattern altitude of 1200 AGL. After completing 5 takeoff and full stop lndgs, the aircraft operator was taxiing to takeoff position, on the taxiway, when the left wheel brake failed completely. The right wheel brake was only about 20-30 percent effective. The operator notified the tower of the brake failure and cut the engine power, and turned off all electrical power. As the aircraft left the end of the taxiway, at about 15 KTS, the operator steered to miss the lights and signs in the run-up/hold area of the runway environment. The heavy soil beyond the end of the taxiway stopped the aircraft within 2 plane lengths. Aircraft was evacuate/evacuationed, inspected for damage, fuel leaks, and/or fire. Operator returned to aircraft when it was deemed there was no danger and the tower was contacted. Reported negative damage to aircraft, operator, and to the airport system. Requested assistance to have aircraft towed to inspection and repair facility.

Title: SMA ACFT BRAKE FAILURE R WHEEL. UNABLE TO CTL OR STOP. RAN OFF TAXIWAY INTO SOFT EARTH TO STOP.
Narrative: ACFT OPERATED UNDER SVFR. BROKEN FOG WITH TOPS AT 700 AGL AT THE W END OF RWY 24. ACFT OPERATOR WAS ABLE TO MAINTAIN VFR AT TFC PATTERN ALT OF 1200 AGL. AFTER COMPLETING 5 TKOF AND FULL STOP LNDGS, THE ACFT OPERATOR WAS TAXIING TO TKOF POS, ON THE TAXIWAY, WHEN THE L WHEEL BRAKE FAILED COMPLETELY. THE R WHEEL BRAKE WAS ONLY ABOUT 20-30 PERCENT EFFECTIVE. THE OPERATOR NOTIFIED THE TWR OF THE BRAKE FAILURE AND CUT THE ENG PWR, AND TURNED OFF ALL ELECTRICAL PWR. AS THE ACFT LEFT THE END OF THE TAXIWAY, AT ABOUT 15 KTS, THE OPERATOR STEERED TO MISS THE LIGHTS AND SIGNS IN THE RUN-UP/HOLD AREA OF THE RWY ENVIRONMENT. THE HVY SOIL BEYOND THE END OF THE TAXIWAY STOPPED THE ACFT WITHIN 2 PLANE LENGTHS. ACFT WAS EVACED, INSPECTED FOR DAMAGE, FUEL LEAKS, AND/OR FIRE. OPERATOR RETURNED TO ACFT WHEN IT WAS DEEMED THERE WAS NO DANGER AND THE TWR WAS CONTACTED. RPTED NEGATIVE DAMAGE TO ACFT, OPERATOR, AND TO THE ARPT SYS. REQUESTED ASSISTANCE TO HAVE ACFT TOWED TO INSPECTION AND REPAIR FACILITY.
