Narrative:

In descent to miami during radar vectors at 10000 ft mia center called traffic 12 O'clock and 9000 ft. I called 'TCASII contact'. Traffic showed climbing and TCASII called 'traffic, traffic'. TCASII showed decreasing separation -900 ft/- 800 ft. At -400 ft captain began climb. I spotted traffic and called it at same time TCASII called 'climb, climb'. Traffic passed below and to our left. As captain returned to 10000 ft (from 10400 ft) autoplt remained off as we sorted out the situation and we descended through 9800 ft before correcting to 10000 ft again. Controller helped by calling traffic early and TCASII worked. Recommend vigilance in confirming autoplt on after evasive action.

Narrative: IN DSCNT TO MIAMI DURING RADAR VECTORS AT 10000 FT MIA CENTER CALLED TFC 12 O'CLOCK AND 9000 FT. I CALLED 'TCASII CONTACT'. TFC SHOWED CLBING AND TCASII CALLED 'TFC, TFC'. TCASII SHOWED DECREASING SEPARATION -900 FT/- 800 FT. AT -400 FT CAPT BEGAN CLB. I SPOTTED TFC AND CALLED IT AT SAME TIME TCASII CALLED 'CLB, CLB'. TFC PASSED BELOW AND TO OUR L. AS CAPT RETURNED TO 10000 FT (FROM 10400 FT) AUTOPLT REMAINED OFF AS WE SORTED OUT THE SITUATION AND WE DSNDED THROUGH 9800 FT BEFORE CORRECTING TO 10000 FT AGAIN.
