Narrative:
I was taxiing for takeoff. Misread the chart (airport) and taxied across runway 32 without clearance. I had reviewed the taxi chart and made the wrong turn. I don't think I would have crossed the runway if there had been an intersection sign telling me the runway. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: reporter participated in structured callback for runway incursion study. Reporter clarified takeoff runway assignment and says it was simple and short taxi route, but after his error of crossing runway 32 he ended up with long taxi and he described the route. He says that srq airport is very poorly lighted and he did not see any surface marking or sign warning that they were approaching runway 32. It was first officer first trip with this PIC and first officer did not have much line time. First officer pointed out PIC error after the fact. No other aircraft involved. PIC wife had alcohol problem at time of incident and reporter had moved out of house 2 days prior to incident. Not sure of amount of sleep or quality of rest on those days prior to incident. Flight crew were involved in checklists at time runway was crossed.
