Narrative:
Were cleared off runway 15 by london tower, contacted departure/center. Were given heading to 'join V-98, as filed.' this was read back and unchanged. At cruise, controller asked where we were going and what we were doing. We told him where we were and he thought we were on V-5 'as filed'. We told him we were given V-98 by departure/center. He issued a 200 degree heading to join V-5. After landing at dtw, our dispatch called us and asked about our flight and said toronto center had called them and told them to 'get our flight plan straight.' we had no flight plan problem. We were cleared as filed before departure, and then V-98 when we contacted departure/center. This was the point of conflict. We had a similar mix-up into london the evening before (and a very testy controller). It may be coincidence, but I wonder if the ATC strike has anything to do with our problems.?

AT CRUISE, CTLR ASKED WHERE WE WERE GOING AND WHAT WE WERE DOING. WE TOLD HIM WHERE WE WERE AND HE THOUGHT WE WERE ON V-5 'AS FILED'. WE TOLD HIM WE WERE GIVEN V-98 BY DEP/CENTER. HE ISSUED A 200 DEG HDG TO JOIN V-5. AFTER LNDG AT DTW, OUR DISPATCH CALLED US AND ASKED ABOUT OUR FLT AND SAID TORONTO CENTER HAD CALLED THEM AND TOLD THEM TO 'GET OUR FLT PLAN STRAIGHT.' WE HAD NO FLT PLAN PROBLEM. WE WERE CLRED AS FILED BEFORE DEP, AND THEN V-98 WHEN WE CONTACTED DEP/CENTER. THIS WAS THE POINT OF CONFLICT.
