Narrative:
Flight taxied to runway 31 as per instructions for takeoff at T-6. We were directed to taxi to 31 via lima and lima 6 and hold short as there was an aircraft on final approach to runway 31. The ATIS information stated the southeast 740 ft of runway 31 was closed. I was expecting to taxi to the runway via L-5 but was told to use L-6. Tower instructed us to taxi onto runway 31 to turn right and taxi into position. I was curious about the ATIS information but did not get a chance to ask as we were cleared for takeoff. I had given the aircraft to the first officer and the checklist was complete, so he applied power for takeoff. Since they cleared me to runway 31 via lima 6 and into position, I assumed all the runway was available in spite of the information on the ATIS. After we departed bna I began to wonder if we were all on the same page. Ground nor tower never mentioned any runway cutback and there were no visual indications, lights, barriers, etc to indicate all the runway was not available. I will make it a point to ask next time but if the ATIS is not applicable because of time of day or whatever reason, the information should be amended or the pilots made aware of the changes. Also, there should be lights or some markings identing the new threshold of the cutback area.

Title: ACR MLG CAPT THINKS HE MADE A TKOF USING A CLOSED PORTION OF THE RWY.
Narrative: FLT TAXIED TO RWY 31 AS PER INSTRUCTIONS FOR TKOF AT T-6. WE WERE DIRECTED TO TAXI TO 31 VIA LIMA AND LIMA 6 AND HOLD SHORT AS THERE WAS AN ACFT ON FINAL APCH TO RWY 31. THE ATIS INFO STATED THE SE 740 FT OF RWY 31 WAS CLOSED. I WAS EXPECTING TO TAXI TO THE RWY VIA L-5 BUT WAS TOLD TO USE L-6. TWR INSTRUCTED US TO TAXI ONTO RWY 31 TO TURN R AND TAXI INTO POS. I WAS CURIOUS ABOUT THE ATIS INFO BUT DID NOT GET A CHANCE TO ASK AS WE WERE CLRED FOR TKOF. I HAD GIVEN THE ACFT TO THE FO AND THE CHKLIST WAS COMPLETE, SO HE APPLIED PWR FOR TKOF. SINCE THEY CLRED ME TO RWY 31 VIA LIMA 6 AND INTO POS, I ASSUMED ALL THE RWY WAS AVAILABLE IN SPITE OF THE INFO ON THE ATIS. AFTER WE DEPARTED BNA I BEGAN TO WONDER IF WE WERE ALL ON THE SAME PAGE. GND NOR TWR NEVER MENTIONED ANY RWY CUTBACK AND THERE WERE NO VISUAL INDICATIONS, LIGHTS, BARRIERS, ETC TO INDICATE ALL THE RWY WAS NOT AVAILABLE. I WILL MAKE IT A POINT TO ASK NEXT TIME BUT IF THE ATIS IS NOT APPLICABLE BECAUSE OF TIME OF DAY OR WHATEVER REASON, THE INFO SHOULD BE AMENDED OR THE PLTS MADE AWARE OF THE CHANGES. ALSO, THERE SHOULD BE LIGHTS OR SOME MARKINGS IDENTING THE NEW THRESHOLD OF THE CUTBACK AREA.
