Narrative:
Flying into unfamiliar area, I took a visual approach and then cancelled IFR with center with airport in sight. Unfortunately it was the wrong airport. We were preoccupied with discussing how to handle landing a jet with no reversers on a short runway at coffeyville, ks, while in the pattern and reporting position on cfv unicom, while in reality at independence, ks. No conflict with other aircraft but could have been a problem had the airport been busy. Learned next time to take each phase one step at a time and verify by means of available navigation equipment, our position rather than relying on visual contact of an airport.

Title: CPR LTT WRONG ARPT LNDG.
Narrative: FLYING INTO UNFAMILIAR AREA, I TOOK A VISUAL APCH AND THEN CANCELLED IFR WITH CENTER WITH ARPT IN SIGHT. UNFORTUNATELY IT WAS THE WRONG ARPT. WE WERE PREOCCUPIED WITH DISCUSSING HOW TO HANDLE LNDG A JET WITH NO REVERSERS ON A SHORT RWY AT COFFEYVILLE, KS, WHILE IN THE PATTERN AND RPTING POS ON CFV UNICOM, WHILE IN REALITY AT INDEPENDENCE, KS. NO CONFLICT WITH OTHER ACFT BUT COULD HAVE BEEN A PROBLEM HAD THE ARPT BEEN BUSY. LEARNED NEXT TIME TO TAKE EACH PHASE ONE STEP AT A TIME AND VERIFY BY MEANS OF AVAILABLE NAV EQUIP, OUR POS RATHER THAN RELYING ON VISUAL CONTACT OF AN ARPT.
